The Winter Vortex

We found ourselves driving back north the day the winter vortex started back home. We decided to spend a few nights in Corbin, Kentucky (where Mike an I spent the millennium many years ago) in order to allow a dangerous blizzard to pass. The kids school was cancelled for a few days (and so was work) so we enjoyed a few extra days at a nice hotel with a big pool.
When we returned we had 16 inches of snow and the temperature was -14 (pre wind chill.) luckily I-75 northbound remained open the day we drove the last leg and we made it back safe and sound.

Hard to imagine that only a few days ago it was 80 degrees and we were relaxing on a beach!
