Evan Turns 5!

Evan turned 5!  We had a Mario themed birthday to celebrate.  He and Hayley love playing Mario, as evidenced by some of the pictures.  It amazes me that Hayley can play so well, I can’t wait to see what kind of technology this generation produces.  Evan is my first born living among non-first borns and sometimes I feel for him a bit. However, his organizational skills totally crack me up, for example, we got into a minor car accident over Thanksgiving (everyone fine, but car’s still in the shop) and right after it happened Evan told the other kids not to worry as he had packed a snack.  Sure enough, he pulls out a snack for everyone out of his bag and the kids happily munch for a while, only occasionally asking us if the police are taking us to jail.  Evan continues to love school and although his teacher says he is still a bit shy, she also says that he is quick to answer questions and always has the answer.  He’s told me he wants to be : an engineer, a soccer player, or a cashier when he grows up (he has a thing for money!)

Hayley would stay at school all day if she could but she also loves curling up on the couch with blankets.  She is my best sleeper and is still incredibly independent.  She loves dressing up although sometimes I struggle with the princess image that I believe has been instilled on this generation.  Lucky for her (or maybe for my current sanity!) she has two brothers and she quite enjoys wrestling with Mike, running around, racing cars, and the like.  She ‘loves’ Logan and tries to carry him, sit on him, hug him, drag him around, ect… which can get him laughing or sometimes crying or (most often) crawling fast in the opposite direction!

Logan is a super speedy crawler (see above), I will try to get a video of him up soon, hopefully before he’s walking which I’m sure will be in a few months.  He pulls up on stuff and pushes things around the house to ‘walk.’  He actually has left the Christmas tree alone, which is unlike the other kids when they were small.  Although I learned to get 12 or so plastic ball ornaments that I think are rarely on the tree as he loves to roll them around.  He is a cutie, he is constantly entertained by his brother and sister and loves to be held and loves to crawl and explore.  He’s got 4 teeth on the bottom and 2 up top (with 2 more pushing in) so he has not been sleeping very well with all of the teething, but he is happy during the day.
The weather was wonderfully warm throughout this fall but starting around Evan's birthday we've had some flurries and are keeping around an inch on the ground.
